My work focuses on light and the ephemeral, observing the movement of sunlight in order to construct images. This series, ‘Crossing the Water’, was created during a residency on the Greek island of Rhodes, influenced by the blues of sea and sky covering the island

Cyanotypes allow me to capture imprints and traces – making sketches by using my own body to draw with light and creating crouching, contorted figures. I then collate all of this into sets of indexical imagery, exploring ideas of loss and memory.  These pieces hold the traces of something familiar, but just out of reach. They bear a somewhat transient quality, giving the feeling that they could perhaps suddenly morph or disappear. In their temporality, they capture moments between events, a time out of time.
